A great benefit of making policyIQ part of your organization is just how seamlessly it can fit into your environment. While many clients opt to sign in to policyIQ through their browser using a username and password, some require an alternative—and we can provide that! With so many usernames and passwords to remember in the office environment, ways to simplify this process are always welcome.
LDAP allows users to log in using network access credentials…
For years, policyIQ has offered an option to integrate with your organizations internal directory using LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) technology. This allows users to log into policyIQ using their network user name and password, without having to have any additional user names or passwords to remember. With LDAP, you may also allow user profiles to be automatically created in policyIQ, assigned to specific Groups or with specific Account Types or Roles.
…but many organizations want to make things even easier, with full Single Sign-On!
Over the past few years, policyIQ has implemented Single Sign-On (SSO) technology for several clients, allowing for quick and secure logins across their networks. While SSO can be implemented in several ways, the policyIQ team recommends the usage of the industry standard SAML 2.0 (Security Assertion Markup Language).
In a nutshell, SAML 2.0 sign-on technology bypasses the policyIQ login screen via a link to your site through your internal network. This link sends your local username and password (for PC users, your Windows username and password) to an external identity provider (such as ADFS, Tivoli or SecureAuth). Your identity provider checks to see if you are a registered user for you policyIQ site, and (if you are) sends and logs you into your policyIQ site directly.
Sound complicated? It’s not! All of this happens behind the scenes. From a user perspective, all that you will see is an icon for policyIQ. Once the link is clicked, you’re in the site. That’s it!
Our developers will work directly with your technology team to provide a quick and seamless transition to your new Single Sign-On to policyIQ. Please feel free to reach out to our support team for pricing on LDAP or SAML, along with any questions you may have about this process.
